SUMMARY:Hard Times Cabaret
DESCRIPTION:**** finalised line-up announced below ****\n\nAn evening of music\, sketches\, drama\, comedy\, poetry\, satire\, commentary... in fact\, whatever has been created by participants of our workshops!\n\nSupported by a house band\, the Uninvited Guests\, featuring Aidan Jolly (guitar and banjo)\, Lis Murphy (violin)\, Mira Sengupta (accordion)\, and Eve Harrison (trumpet).\n\nThroughout the 20th Century and into the 21st\, Cabaret has been one of the key popular artforms to speak truth to power and bring the high and mighty low. Brecht\, Eisler and Weill cut their dramatic and political teeth playing in beer cellars and Cabarets in the Wiemar Republic\, and we can judge how effective they were by the response of the Nazi party\, who tried to break up their performances\, forced them to leave Germany\, and labelled their work degenerate. We're going to make our own version with bang up to date topical performances so fresh they haven't been written yet\, and this time\, you won't have to go any further than the magnificent Miners Arts and Music Club in Moston.\n\n\n**** Hard Times Cabaret line up ****\n\nThanks to all the artists for coming forward. It features (but not necessarily in order of appearance):\n\nSongs from:\nClaire Mooney\nCredit Racket\nPhil Girling\nCaro C & Shirokuma\n Gail Skelly\nMakings Of A Maniac\n\nStand Up and Poetry from:\nSteve Titley\nNeil Fawcett\n\nTheatre from our workshops at Ordsall Community Arts\n\nWriting from Baz Connolly\n\nAn excerpt from the Liverpool Blitz Radio Ballad by Underheard Theatre\n\nWith support by the Uninvited Guests\, featuring Aidan Jolly (guitar and banjo)\, Lis Murphy (violin)\, Mira Sengupta (accordion)\, and Eve Harrison (trumpet). ~\n\n
