In October 2019 we ran the ‘Tierra Y Libertad’ workshop, in support of visitors from Colombia, Brazil and Chile who were visiting the UK to attend the AGM of BHP Billiton. This was part of their ‘UK tour’ – they also visited Glasgow and Durham. See our blog for more information.
In October 2017 we ran popular education workshops as part of the ‘Extract’ project.
These are based on the work of Brazilian writer Paulo Freire and various international practices in theatre for social change. We believe these offer powerful tools for engaging in creative collaborations about social, economic, health and climate justice. We start from people’s own experience and knowledge of the world. We aim to ask people to question the current system and create their own alternatives.
The original festival programme involved collaboration with a number of organisations including Ordsall Community Arts and Miners Community Arts and Music Centre to explore the themes of the festival and create new work.
